SCOTUS Sides with Anti-Choice Fake Women’s Health Centers
Supreme Court ruling condones deceptive tactics of fake women’s health centers, puts Roe at risk

After the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in NIFLA v. Becerra, NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota issued the following statement:

“Today, an ideologically divided Supreme Court gave fake women’s health centers a free pass to deceive women. These centers prey on pregnant women and their families, and often give them false, misleading, and medically inaccurate information. No one should be lied to about their health care, but five male Justices—including Neil Gorsuch, Trump’s Justice who was hand-picked by his anti-choice allies—voted otherwise.

“In Minnesota, the deception promulgated by fake women’s health centers is absolutely unacceptable. NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota has been organizing, protesting, and lobbying against these fake clinics, and we will not rest until permanent solutions exist to make sure women have access to comprehensive, timely, and accurate medical information. Minnesota has 93 fake women’s health centers, and only five abortion clinics.

“But our work cannot and will not end here. We know the real goal of the extreme, national and local organizations behind these centers: to overturn Roe and to do everything they can to control the lives of women until then. Fake women’s health centers, the rest of the anti-choice movement, and their political allies have been working together for decades with one goal in mind: ban abortion in America. In state after state, anti-choice politicians are passing radical and unconstitutional abortion bans because they are counting on Trump’s judges to overturn Roe.

“Here in Minnesota, our anti-choice legislature introduced an abortion ban, which would make it a felony for doctors to provide abortion care, and a heartbeat ban, which would outlaw abortion after six weeks. Our neighboring state of Iowa successfully passed and signed into law a heartbeat ban — and they don’t hide their intentions, bragging that they hope a lawsuit over their legislation will be used by the Supreme Court to do the job. We will continue to fight back — against fake women’s health centers, against Trump’s judicial nominees, against the lawless, cruel actions of the Trump administration, against our local anti-choice legislature, and against the slew of anti-woman, anti-choice bills in our state and in Congress.

“Women’s rights are fundamental civil rights, and we cannot rest until they are restored and protected.”
