About Us:

A Legacy of Advocacy

Pro-Choice Minnesota (formally NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota) was founded in 1966, before abortion was legalized in the United States. We’ve been leading advocating for reproductive rights ever since.

Our Mission:

Building collective power to remove barriers, strengthen protections, and expand access to abortion and all reproductive healthcare in Minnesota.

Our Vision:

Reproductive freedom across Minnesota for everyone— regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, or zip code.

Our Values:

Bodily Autonomy

We believe that every person has the right to make choices about their body’s reproduction, free from restriction and oppression.

Accountability

We aim to hold ourselves accountable as a white-led organization within the reproductive freedom movement. We bring compassion, care, and open-mindedness to our work.

Collective Action

We believe that activating Minnesotan’s who support abortion access is the best way to build collective power and effect meaningful change.

Supportive Community

Fighting for abortion access can be mentally and emotionally draining, and at times triggering. We believe that by caring for ourselves and each other, we can better further our mission and make lasting change.

Equity + Intersectionality

We apply an intersectional approach to our work and aim to center the voices of those who are most impacted by injustice. We uplift the leadership of Black Women who pioneered and continue to forward reproductive justice.

How We Operate:

Pro-Choice Minnesota is a dynamic nonprofit organization leading political advocacy and educational outreach to advance reproductive freedom in our state.

We operate under two distinct but complementary entities:

Pro-Choice Minnesota (501(c)4)

As a 501(c)4 nonprofit, Pro-Choice Minnesota is focused on developing and mobilizing a strong constituency that engages in the political process to protect and expand reproductive rights. Through advocacy, grassroots organizing, and legislative action, we work to ensure that every person has the right to make personal decisions regarding reproductive healthcare, including:

  • Preventing unintended pregnancy through access to contraception and comprehensive sex education.

  • Supporting healthy pregnancies with equitable maternal healthcare and family planning resources.

  • Ensuring access to legal abortion without political interference or unnecessary restrictions.

Pro-Choice Minnesota Foundation (501(c)3)

The Pro-Choice Minnesota Foundation protects reproductive freedom through education, training, advocacy, and community organizing. Our foundation-driven work focuses on:

  • Public Education: Providing factual, research-based information about reproductive health and rights.

  • Training & Leadership Development: Equipping advocates and healthcare providers with the tools to support reproductive justice.

  • Legal & Policy Advocacy: Defending against attacks on reproductive rights and working to expand protections.

  • Community Engagement: Organizing events, workshops, and campaigns to normalize conversations around abortion and reproductive healthcare.
