Art Salon VIII: Pro-Choice Minnesota Hosts Art Gallery and Silent Auction for Public

Pro-Choice Minnesota Hosts Art Gallery and Silent Auction for Public
Minneapolis, MN - September 15, 2023 - Pro-Choice Minnesota will host Art Salon VIII, an annual online silent auction and gallery exhibit, for the general public on Wednesday, September 20th at Squirrel Haus Arts. The fundraiser comes as reproductive rights face increasing pressure across the nation.
In its eighth year, Art Salon continues to be one of Pro-Choice Minnesota’s most popular annual fundraisers. The 2023 auction features original works of art by an array of local and national artists, including Howard Oransky, Director, Katherine E. Nash Gallery Department of Art, University of Minnesota. Proceeds will support Pro-Choice Minnesota’s efforts to build collective power to remove barriers, strengthen protections, and expand access to abortion and all reproductive healthcare in Minnesota.
Pro-Choice Minnesota Executive Director Maggie Meyer expressed her excitement, "Art Salon VIII is a testament to the power of art and creativity in advocating for reproductive freedom. Art Salon has become a celebrated tradition providing us with the opportunity to come together with the community."
Artists involved in this year's Art Salon VIII collection are equally enthusiastic about contributing their work to support reproductive freedom. Tari Johnson, a professional artist since 2000, donated the original painting "Luella" along with her first edition clutch purse "Lippy." When asked why she donated her artwork, Tari stated, "Reproductive rights is an important issue today in our country. I've donated to Art Salon VIII to support agency over our bodies and freedom of choice."
The silent auction and gallery exhibit will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20th at Squirrel Haus Arts, 3450 Snelling Ave, Minneapolis. Art Salon VIII is a free event open to the public.
